Belgian Shepherd Working Dogs
The Malinois is and always has been a working dog. Originally descended from herding stock the destiny of the short coated Belgian Shepherd known as the Malinois was to become the epitome of what all working dogs strive to be. Breeders quickly turned their focus from the natural herding function of the Malinois toward it's ingrained protective nature. High Drives, quickness, agility with a high degree of focus for their handlers has helped them carve out a position as one of the most highly valued Police and Sport dogs in the world.
Today known as the Mechelaar, Mechelse Herder, or Malinois in various parts of the world, the high drive Malinois is frequently seen at the side of his military canine handler, his LEO partner, or standing on the podium at Ring Sport, French Ring, and Schutzhund Sport events.
